About Trina

 
Life is such an interesting journey!  Almost 17 years ago, Trina opened her mind to integrative nutrition and medicine when she herself had a medically challenging pregnancy, birth. Integrating nutritional knowledge and practice alongside western medicine and experiencing the effects was life-changing and she strives to educate and help others.
 
Trina now cherishes her healthy family of five while balancing work in higher education and leading her nutrition consulting group. She mainly works with clients and groups who wish to lead a healthy life and prevent disease, including elite athletes. Most recently, she completed the highest level of certification for the International Society of Sports Nutrition.

Over the years, Trina studied Sports Medicine at the University of Virginia, researched Pharmaceutical Biology in Germany, obtained an MD degree at Howard University School of Medicine and received further training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition based in New York City. Trina is currently a Professorial Lecturer at American University in Washington, DC, in both the Graduate Nutrition Education Program and the Health Promotion Program.  Drawing on the knowledge absorbed along her journey, Trina flourishes with her ability to extend education to others and create personalized “roadmaps to health” that suit each unique body, lifestyle, and preferences.

Trina integrates  knowledge and experience from her Sports Medicine Studies, Medical School, Integrative Nutrition Studies and teaching at American University.  During her training, she learned about 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts. Her teachers included Dr. Andrew Weil, Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine; Dr. Deepak Chopra, leader in the field of mind-body medicine; Dr. David Katz, Director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center; Dr. Walter Willett, Chair of Nutrition at Harvard University; Geneen Roth, bestselling author and expert on emotional eating; and many other leading researchers and nutrition authorities.
